Keep Up the Good Work, Love!

Well, it's definitely time for an update! The great news around our little household is Branden's continued success in kicking his smoking habit.

At the beginning of February Branden went to the doctor and got a prescription for Chantix. He started taking it that day and a week later had his last cigarette. It has now been two weeks since the last time he smoked. Last weekend he took the extra step of cleaning out his truck, vacuuming and scrubbing the seats and floorboards and throwing out the last lingering cigarettes.

This is a HUGE thing for him. He's been smoking for about half his life and for the first time in years he's not experiencing cravings. He's already noticed a difference in the way that he feels. Specifically, he is breathing without wheezing and the cough he has had since before we met is finally improving. I am so excited and proud that I brag about his progress to EVERYONE... Now including my few followers on here.

In related news, he's made a goal to run the St. Jude Memphis Marathon in December of 2013. To reach this goal, he has started the Couch to 5K program. He and his friend run together and he should be able to run a 5K within nine weeks. However, he doesn't plan on actually running a 5K until August when we're planning on participating in Run for You Lives, Zombie 5K and obstacle course. It's gonna be AWESOME! You can sign up as a victim, a chaser zombie or a stumbler zombie. He's planning on being a victim and running the course but I'm going to be a stumbler zombie! In order to not overshadow all of Branden's hard work, however, I will end my excited gushing here and write about this aspect at a later date.

We are both happily anticipating the health benefits that this decision will continue to bring to Branden's life. I am so truly proud of his dedication and the will-power it took for him to make it through the worst of his nicotine withdrawal. I love you, Branden. You can do this!

Great job Branden!

I've started the Couch to 5k program a couple of times and while I've never finished it (go me!), I really believe that it's a great running program. The zombie run sounds like a blast!

Whoo-hoo! That is super exciting. Tell Branden I am proud of him, that is really hard to do. And good for you both with the Zombie 5K, it sounds like one of the only 5Ks I would consider running.
