Last night was the Blink182 concert and the weather was PERFECT for an outdoor show. They were supposed to play back on September 3 with Weezer and someone I didn't care about but then a friend of their drummer committed suicide and they decided to postpone a couple of shows to give him time to mourn. So they rescheduled to last night and changed the line-up to Blink182 with Fall Out Boy and All American Rejects. Then AAR decided to back out at the last minute and Academy Is stepped into their slot.
I've seen Academy Is a couple times and I've never been impressed. Last night was no different. Fall Out Boy CAN put on a decent show and they didn't do a bad job last night. Unfortunately, they aren't Weezer. Essentially, we paid for a completely different concert than we got which stinks but I was really going to see Blink and I did see them so... Guess I can't complain too much.
I never managed to get to a Blink182 concert before they broke up for four years so last night was my first time. They did not disappoint. We felt we were old enough now to purchase seats rather than lawn tickets and I stayed seated for the first two bands but didn't sit at all while Blink was on the stage. I sang along and bounced around and generally acted like a dork but Branden was good enough to stand next to me and even kiss me and hug me occassionally. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and felt that, yes, we could have used the money that was spent so long ago on our tickets, but it was also worth the purchase of a few hours' distraction from our worries... If that makes sense.
Thankfully, I didn't have to work today. It shouldn't have been a big deal since the concert ended before 10:30 PM but then we sat in the parking lot for over an hour waiting for the cars in front of us to move. It was INSANE! We were sitting in the lane of the parking lot and people were literally backing toward the side of my car and we honestly didn't move- Branden even turned off the car- for over an hour! Something really needs to be done about that. Apparently, that's just what you expect from that particular venue.
Even though we sat there for so long- and my bladder was almost ready to explode by the time we got out- it was a good night. We made it home safely just before 1 AM. We were both pretty tired today so we didn't do much. We mostly sat around like bums... But at least that doesn't cost anything. I finished the last Harry Potter book and I'm not quite sure what I'll be reading tomorrow if I get to work early. Looks like it's time to get a library card!
