So Many Cakes and Still So Many to Go

Today at work I made 50 cakes. Unfortunately, that's only about half of the cakes I need to refill the freezer.

The big walk-in freezer was defrosted last Tuesday so my boss didn't want me to have any back stock. I was off on Wednesday and Thursday, Friday and Saturday are big order days and I was off again on Sunday. This means that yesterday and today were the first chances I really had to get anything made for back stock. Yesterday I used up almost all of my cream cheese icing and I've only made about half of the cream cheese iced cakes. Today I used almost all of my chocolate icing- and pretty much all of my chocolate cake- to make all but one flavor of the chocolate iced cakes.

It may not seem like a lot- 50 cakes in 8 hours- but it's an improvement over the speed I was at when I first started and that does include time spent helping customers as well. (Apparently I'm the only person in the bakery who can write on cakes...? I KNOW that's not the case since everyone had to write on cakes before I came along.) Now I'm tired but also happy about the work I completed today.

*Completely Unrelated Question* Does anyone know any fun recipes that use candy corn? They're Branden's favorite fall snack and, while he'll eat them plain, I think it'd be fun to use them as an ingredient in something. If nobody has recipes, I just might start experimenting with them on my own.
